Netza Roldan has developed a creative and innovative teaching method that provides dancers with the basic techniques for interpreting their feelings through different tango rhythms. He has studied psycho-motor skill development, rhythm and movement, psychosocial development of the human body, physical conditioning and plyometric methodology for human body performance and development. He began teaching the concept of integration of body and mind many years ago as a football coach for young athletes in Mexico and was a pioneer in introducing ballet exercises as a part of his athletic training program.
Combining his knowledge and experience in athletic training with movement and rhythm techniques, Netza has guided his tango students in discovering other facets of their projection and body coordination. Profound belief in the ability of tango to enhance the human spirit and improve lives led Netza to create a variety of educational and health programs based on dance and movement techniques. Through the integration of tango dance concepts and fundamentals into other disciplines his methods strengthen the body and mind and promote a healthy lifestyle.
Netza’s most influential international tango teachers have been: Eduardo and Gloria Arquimbau, Chicho Frumboli and Paulo Araujo. Eduardo and Gloria Arquimabau instilled in him the tradition and the history of the dance and dance composition. Paulo Araujo has given Netza invaluable instruction in body mechanics and control of projection, the different levels of rotation and direction of the body. Chicho Frumboli has influenced Netza with his more contemporary interpretation of the tango.
Nina Tatarowicz
Nina Tatarowicz has been a professional tango dancer for 8 years, dancing on stage and teaching tango in Buenos Aires and around the world. Nina developed an acute technique in partner dancing due to the young age at which she started to dance competitive ballroom dances; since then she has expanded her movement boundaries through a focus in modern dance, jazz dance, ethnic dances and yoga.
An accomplished leader and follower, Nina translates the intrigue of tango into a language that is accessible to all. Emphasizing an intimate embrace and relaxed, organic body movement, she provides her students with a solid foundation in technique and dance structure; she encourages their creativity and the expression of their own unique personality in the dance. Nina returns often to Buenos Aires with opportunities to teach and perform, and currently is based in the Chicago area as a teacher, dancer, choreographer and event organizer.
On stage her projects include dancing in the production “Tango: Love and Sex” in Buenos Aires' Teatro Avenida in 2004 with choreography by Doris Pettroni, creating her own choreographic works in the US between 2005 - 2008, dancing the lead role in the show “Tango is My Shadow” in Chicago with choreography by Melina Brufman and Claudio Gonzalez, and dancing the role of Persephone in the tango-theater piece "Eurydice Ascending" in the Cambalache V Festival 2008 in Buenos Aires.
In addition to her persistent exploration into the evolution of tango as a social dance form, Nina's latest endeavors involve testing the boundaries of tango language, harnessing its potential to touch audiences from a theatrical point of departure. Most recently, she has become a licensed Gyrotonic® instructor. Nina’s style as a tango dancer highlights an intimate embrace coupled with organic body movement, creating a tango that is both sinuous and explosive, driven essentially by the music.
