MORE INFO

Never danced tango?
Have you been tempted by tango, but too nervous to begin?
Our unique Fast Track Novice Series will get you dancing in just 6 rigorous workshops.

Taught by American Tango Institute and Old Town School instructor, Netza Roldan. Specifically for people who have never danced tango, this series of six intensive dance workshops was designed to have you dancing in three days!

Argentine tango is about interpreting the music as you walk fluidly with a partner. Take your first steps to tango and learn the secrets of this sensuous dance and how to use your body, balance and projection to create your own tango style. Two workshops per day will focus on basics & fundamentals of social tango that all tango dancers need to move with confidence and grace.

Workshops will introduce:

·         Perfect tango posture

·         The Embrace -3 points of connection in the open embrace

·         Walking with elegance

·         The Axis – understanding and controlling one’s axis

·         Disassociation of upper and lower body

·         The importance of improvisation in tango

·         Basics movements: count of eight, salida, cross step, rock step, changes of direction, changes of weight

Even if you think you have two left feet, the Fast Track Novice Series will prove that tango can also be a walk in the park.

Let Tango On The Town’s Fast Track Novice Series fly you swiftly to Argentine tango!

Back-to-School Tango Camp
MAD-HOT TANGO CLASSES FOR KIDS!
Back-to-School Tango Camp teaches basic Argentinean tango to children in five fun and engaging classes designed to introduce children to the rhythm and movement of tango, encourage self-expression and promote cultural awareness.

Back-to-School Tango Camp blends elements of eurhythmics and psychomotor development techniques into the Argentinean tango to teach children to dance while helping them build a healthy mind and body connection.

Students will learn the three basic elements of social tango – musicality, movement technique & connection. Good listening skills and focus are developed while learning to hear the beat, move to the rhythm and create the connection in dancing with a partner. Movement technique includes improving posture, increasing awareness of body in space and control of balance and body movements.

Let your kids take the lead! We agree with the tenet held by the Illinois State Board of Education that Physical activity and movement can be a medium of communication. In tango, it is essential to understand the intentions of others and for dancers to make their own intentions clear, so students will learn to observe others, listen, act and react.

For ages 8 to 13

Objectives of Back-to-School Tango Camp:

No special attire needed. Please wear comfortable clothing and bring hard soled shoes to class, either leather or suede soles.
